by Camille Pagan
What could be a typical women’s fiction read – the husband leaves around the same time as a nightmare medical diagnosis is given – is made into a unique and funny story by Pagan. Here we find Libby Miller, whose rose-colored glasses are shattered and optimistic outlook is forgotten when she encounters both. So she heads to her Puerto Rico, a place her deceased mother loved, to recuperate and figure out what life is all about. In the end, she realizes although a perfect life isn’t possible, a happy (albeit unconventional) one certainly is and is worth living.
