The New York Times calls this book “A rich brew of dystopic fantasy and deadpan goofiness,” which we feel is enough to want to buy it. But if you need more, how’s this? A couple centuries after the “Something That Happened” a colortocracy was founded: Chromatiacia. It’s a place where a caste system of sorts defines social structure – and it’s based on the perception of color. Once someone’s color perceptions are tested, they are given their societal rank. What could possibly go wrong in such a world? Just try moving up by marrying well. Which is what Eddie Russet tries to do until he stumbles upon Jane Grey and begins to question the sanity of things.
