by Adriana Trigiani
The New York Times calls Trigiani “a comedy writer with a heart of gold,” and this book is just a sampling of why. Here she introduces us to Valentine Roncalli, an Italian-American girl tasked with the job of saving the family’s shoe-making business. Granted, she knows little about making shoes and even less about running a business. But she has heart, determination, and an 80-year-old grandmother mentor to look up to. Keep in mind, this book isn’t all about girl-power, ambition, and grit, it’s a Rom-com, too, in a slow and gentle kind of way.
